One of my new Yesterday’s News series of work was accepted for the Associated Artists of Southport Summer Regional Art Show. The painting received the Sunny Young Memorial Award. It’s always encouraging to receive an award in a show with so many talented artists represented, but this feels particularly uplifting as mixed media and acrylic painting are new to me in the last few months. I guess when I think about it, I’ve only been doing abstract painting in the last 1 1/2 years, so I guess it’s all new. I’m happy and humbled.
